Jiangxi Fengyu Shuntu Technology Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of China’s largest privately owned logistics service provider, SF Express, has received the first drone operator license in the country, The Paper reported.

The trial license, granted by the East China Regional Administration of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, was issued in the context of an exploration of the licensing management.

Thus, at present, there are no trial rules or clear requirements for the registration or review of the license. This means that SF Express can fly its drones under any nationally approved airspace.

Thus, the last section of the “three-stage air transport network” conceived by SF Express has entered the commercial operation stage.

The “three-stages” include large-scale manned transport aircraft + large-scale drones + terminal small drones, with the expectation of achieving 36-hour access to the entire country.

Tian Min, head of the company’s tech department, said they will continue to build a logistics drone coverage network, including expanding the scope of distribution to remote areas.
